UnBubble
Unbubble is an interactive installation in which a robot explores a user’s smartphone to analyze their use of Instagram and define the user’s filter bubbble. This intrusive gesture highlights a paradox: while it is unusual to hand over one’s phone to a machine, we nevertheless allow algorithms to collect our data every day. Our online habits shape a tailor-made reality that filters, sorts, suggests, and sometimes limits our horizon. Unbubble questions how our digital traces construct a fragmented image of ourselves, an image used to influence our choices, desires, and attention. The installation invites visitors to become aware of these mechanisms and opens a space to imagine new narratives, alternative ways of navigating, and worlds to explore beyond the paths drawn by algorithms.
